Woman allegedly  smelling of weed arrested

January 4, 2018
Isaac Estes-Jones

A 45 year old Forsyth woman was arrested before Christmas after a Stone County Sheriff’s Deputy allegedly smelled marijuana when she was in front of him.
According to a statement of probable cause, Deputy Hays, of the Stone County Sheriff’s Office, was in line to pay for fuel at a gas station in Reeds Spring on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, when he smelled a strong odor of marijuana in front of him. He reportedly identified 45 year old Tawnya Isaacs as the person smelling of the drug.
When asked about the smell, Isaacs allegedly admitted to smoking weed before walking to the gas station. She also allegedly admitted to having a marijuana pipe in her backpack. The report also states that Isaacs had a warrant out of Taney County.
Isaacs was placed under arrest. Hays reportedly asked her “several times if she had anything else on her person before taking her to jail to avoid a felony charge. Isaacs stated ‘no.’”
However, when Isaacs was booked into the Stone County Jail, she allegedly pulled a bag of marijuana out of her bra. The drug was reportedly packaged into several smaller bags for resale. Isaacs’ make up bag allegedly also contained a bill grinder and a used syringe.
In Stone County, Isaacs is charged with delivery or possession of a controlled substance at a county jail, a Class D felony. If convicted, she faces up to seven years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
The probable cause statement reported that Isaacs had a warrant out of Taney County, but that charge did not appear active in online court records as of press time.
Isaacs was initially booked into the Stone County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bond. However, that bond was lowered to $5,000 cash or surety on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.
