MoDOT announced on Friday that the bridge over Goff Creek on Route V, just west of Ponce de Leon, will be replaced, starting May 1. While the bridge work is underway, drivers will need to take an alternate route in this section of the county.
“Stone County Rout V at Goff Creek west of Ponce de Leon will CLOSE on Tuesday, May 1, to allow contractor crews to replace the aging bridge,” the Missouri Department of Transportation press release says.
The bridge replacement is expected to take up to three months, with through traffic blocked until it reopens. There will be no formal detour. Drivers will have access to all driveways and road intersections up to the bridge on either side, the release emphasized.
The contractor for this project is Hartman and Company of Springfield. The project is estimated to cost $919,000. It should be completed by the end of August.
The new bridge will be 24 feet wide, replacing the 20 feet wide existing bridge, which was constructed in 1952.
