Two Lose Lives In Head On Collision With Crane Driver

Two people from Ozark lost their lives in a near head-on collision with a vehicle from Crane last week.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Robert C. Butler, 89, and Donna J. Butler, 83, both of Ozark, were pronounced deceased at the hospital following a head on crash on Christian County Route EE about one mile west of Ozark.
Robert Butler was driving a 2018 Honda CRV east on Route EE when the incident happened on Tuesday, July 21, at around 11:50 a.m. The CRV was hit head on by a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 that was being driven west on the highway by Dustin J. Matheis, 20, of Crane. The Dodge reportedly crossed the center line and hit the CRV.
Dustin Matheis did not report any injuries in the crash. He was not wearing a seat belt.
Robert and Donna Butler were airlifted to Cox South Hospital in Springfield for treatment. Robert was pronounced deceased by Dr. Joshua McElderry at 4:31 p.m. on July 21. Donna Butler was pronounced deceased at 6:01 p.m. by Dr. McElderry. They are Troop Ds 59th and 60th fatalities for 2020.
