May 20, 2020
Isaac Estes-Jones

Two men from Arkansas were arrested in Stone County on burglary charges Wednesday, May 13. According to a press release from the Stone County Sheriff's Office, the men were arrested in the early morning hours and stolen goods were found in their vehicle. The sheriff asks readers who may have been victims of burglaries in the area contact detectives with the sheriff's office.

According to the release, Jason Edmondson, 48, of Eureka Springs, Ark., and Shane Stephenson, 42, of Berryville, Ark., were stopped because the vehicle they were in matched the description of a vehicle connected to several burglaries in the southern part of Stone County. The stop happened around 1 a.m. May 13. The vehicle was reportedly towing a trailer full of household items.

A woman was also in the vehicle and was initially arrested with Edmondson and Stephenson. Upon further investigation, she was released.

Edmondson and Stephenson were charged with burglary in the second degree and two counts of stealing over $750. They are being held in the Stone County Jail without bond as of this writing. They were arraigned on Thursday, May 14, and bond was withheld, according to online court records.

A search warrant for the trailer and vehicle was obtained and executed on May 13. During the search, several items reported stolen out of Carroll County, Ark., were allegedly found in the vehicle.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, this is an ongoing investigation and detectives are seeking others who may have been robbed by these suspects. According to the press release, more of the items recovered from the vehicle may have been stolen, either from southern Stone County or Carroll County, Arkansas. The Stone County Sheriff’s Office can be reached by phone at (417) 357-6116.

Both individuals are scheduled to appear in Stone County courts again on Thursday, May 21. Results of those hearings are not available as of press time.
