TRL Shore Clean Up Set For Next Month
March 14, 2019
It’s time to gather friends and family and get ready for the 19th annual Table Rock Lake Shoreline Cleanup scheduled for Saturday, April 6.
Since 2001, Ozarks Water Watch has removed over 272 tons of trash and recycled almost 4,500 tires from the shorelines of Table Rock Lake. These impressive results are only possible with the support and dedication of hundreds of volunteers and dozens of business sponsors from our community.
The Cleanup takes place anywhere along the almost 800 miles of shoreline. Project Director, Ronna Haxby says they have had over 100 teams and 1,000 volunteers some years and hope to do it again. Teams are made up of families, businesses, home owners associations, church groups, student groups, organizations and even individuals. Choose a location that you have a connection to or you’re familiar with or contact Ronna at Ozarks Water Watch to help find an area for your team to clean up.
Ozarks Water Watch is pleased to see a lot of continued interest and support for this event. Project Director, Ronna Haxby, says that this and other lake or river cleanups around the Ozarks is a good way to have a connection and sense of place where we live and play. “People who love and enjoy our area lakes and rivers have a sense of pride and accomplishment when they are able to give back to their community in a meaningful and visible way.”
The main event sponsor for the Table Rock Lake Cleanup is Table Rock Lake Marina Association. Some other major community sponsors so far this year include: Bass Pro Shops, Still Waters Lakeside Resort, US Army Corps of Engineers, Missouri Smallflows Organization, Ozarks Environmental Services and MO Stream Teams, Ayres Sign Co. and others. The list is growing and Ozarks Water Watch would like to add your company logo or name to the event T-shirt. Proceeds from sponsors help pay for cleanup supplies, equipment, snacks, promotion and most importantly a free T-shirt to each volunteer. See a full list of sponsors on the Ozarks Water Watch website at ozarkswaterwatch.org.
Also, mark your calendar for June 8th as the James River Basin Partnership is organizing River Rescue on the James River.
For more information on how you can be a part of this effort, please call our office at 417-739-5001, or visit our webpage at ozarkswaterwatch.org and click on Events/Activities then Shoreline Cleanups.
