Traffic stop leads to two drug arrests, one faces additional gun charge

Two men face charges of drug possession after a traffic stop in southern Stone County reportedly produced meth, hypodermic needles and a gun.
Christopher Huskey, 32, of Blue Eye, and Joseph Norris, 45, of Green Forest, Ark., were arrested on around midnight on Thursday, December 21, after being stopped for a traffic violation on Nauvoo Road in southern Stone County.
According to affidavits of probable cause and felony complaint court documents, Deputy Urbina, with the Stone County Sheriff’s Office, was investigating a traffic stop late on December 20 when the drugs and weapon were allegedly found. Joseph Norris was reportedly being patted down for weapons when he told the deputy that he had a hypodermic needle in his pocket. Norris allegedly admitted to using the needle to inject methamphetamine. The needle reportedly field tested positive for meth.
Norris is charged with the Class D felony of possession of a controlled substance. He is being held in the Stone County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bond.
The other man in the vehicle, identified as 32 year old Christopher Huskey, also faces a felony drug charge, along with a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm. According to the probable cause statement, a beanie-type hat, containing a digital scale and baggie with crystals that field tested positive for meth, was thrown out of the driver’s side window of the vehicle while it was being stopped by law enforcement. Huskey allegedly admitted under oath that the hat and its contents were his.
Huskey further allegedly admitted that the other drug paraphernalia found in a search of the vehicle, including a tube with a crystal substance that tested positive for methamphetamine and two pipes that also field tested positive for meth. A pink SCCY semiautomatic handgun was also found. Huskey reportedly stated that the gun belonged to his father.
Huskey was booked into the Stone County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond, which was posted on Thursday, December 28, according to online records. Huskey faces drug charges, including two counts of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and felony possession of a controlled substance. He is also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, a class D felony, because he is a convicted felon. Online court records show that Huskey was convicted of the Class D felony of unlawful use of a weapon in April of 2013.
