During a traffic stop on January 30, a man and a woman from Texas were arrested with a variety of illegal drugs, allegedly including heroin.
According to affidavits of probable cause, Brittany S. Arnold, 22, of Denton, Texas and Troy Garcia, 25, of Houston, Texas, were stopped by Deputy English with the Stone County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, January 30, because their vehicle did not have a rear license plate light on after dark. The vehicle was stopped near the intersection of Highway 13 and Stoneridge Center Road in Kimberling City.
According to the documents, English requested Chief West of the Reeds Spring Police Department and K9 Gina respond to the stop because Gina is trained to detect illegal drugs. Gina reportedly indicated the presence of narcotics. Using this information, Deputy English searched the vehicle. Both Arnold and Garcia allegedly admitted to smoking out of one of the pipes found in the search. The search also reportedly uncovered 15 syringes, a marijuana bong, two baggies that field tested positive for meth, four pills of the Schedule 4 drug tramadol, along with a scale and two spoons with a dark residue. The residue on the spoons reportedly field tested positive as an opiate. Garcia allegedly told the officer that the residue was from black tar heroin.
Both Garcia and Arnold were arrested and booked into the Stone County Jail. They face three charges of possession of a controlled substance each. They are being held in lieu of $25,000 cash-only bond each.
