The Table Rock Lake Community Foundation (TRLCF) is inviting local nonprofits, 501(c)3 organizations, schools, and governmental agencies to apply for grant funding through its annual grant process. The grant application period is open now through August 15.

In recent years, dozens of community-focused organizations and agencies have benefited from these grants, ranging from several hundred dollars to a cap of $3,000.

“This truly worthwhile effort, open to schools, governments, communities and nonprofit organizations, really helps the smaller to midsize grass-roots groups meet project needs by providing up to $3,000 per grant awarded,” said Nita Jane Ayres, long-time board member of TRLCF and manager of the grant application process.

The TRLCF is a chapter of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks (CFO), a public, a nonprofit foundation serving areas across central and southern Missouri to enhance the quality of life for people in local communities. The CFO has returned more than $500 million in grants and distributions since its 1973 founding. Annually, the TRLCF chapter releases between $20,000 and $30,000.

“Grants awards can be competitive but they can still provide valuable resources to carry out projects or provide funds to do something they might otherwise not be able to do,” Ayres said.

A major role of the Table Rock Lake Community Foundation is to establish endowed funds that fund this community grant-making program. These funds are made possible by charitable donors who have established funding programs and have placed the decision-making in the hands of community leaders who serve on the TRLCF Board of Directors.

“We have a primary interest in supporting organizations and projects that provide vital community services to improve our quality of life,” said Ayres.

Ayres said that the TRLCF has a strong interest in projects that provide innovative solutions for existing and emerging community needs.

“It is rewarding to be involved in helping provide funds for organizations to do good work and assist our communities. It feels really great to be reminded that there are really good and passionate people working to improve our quality of life,” Ayres said.

Grants have been awarded to dozens of organizations that present specific, viable projects. Groups such as Kimberling Area Library Association, Shell Knob in the Spotlight (SKITS), Y Bridge 4H Robotics, Earthwise Recycling Center, Kimberling City Police, Stone County Historical Society, Horses Assisting Youth (HAY), Kornerstone, Inc., Lives Under Construction Boys Ranch and many more.

“Organizations are grateful and excited for the support,” Ayres said.

Following the grant process, applicants awarded grants are invited to attend an event during which they receive the funding and share information about the work of their organizations.

“At our awards event when we bring all of the organizations together it is gratifying to observe the responses of the organizations to the others who are also being awarded a grant,” Ayres said.
