Stone Ridge Villas senior housing project in Kimberling City expected to open late April

Construction is continuing on a senior housing development near Table Rock Lake in Stone County. Stone Ridge Villas is a $5 million project in Kimberling City near Harter House, north of the Hwy 13 bridge. The 13-building complex will feature 36 duplex and triplex units along with a clubhouse. It will be available to seniors age 55 and older.

Construction began on Stone Ridge Villas in the spring of last year. The developers of the project, MRE Capital, say building a housing complex of this kind during the pandemic has come with challenges, such as receiving needed building materials in a timely manner.

“We are battling through the construction on Stone Ridge Villas. Working through the COVID supply chain issues and unexpected soil conditions has been a challenge and caused some delays,” Jake Mooney, with MRE Capital, said.

Stone Ridge Villas is expected to help fill a need for more senior housing in the area, as seniors make up a high percentage of Kimberling City and the surrounding area’s population. Other senior housing complexes in the area are full and have a waiting list.

Mooney said if construction continues to progress as expected, the hope is for residents to be able to move in to Stone Ridge Villas within the next three months or so.

“We are hoping to have the first homes available for residents in late April,” Mooney said.

Stone Ridge Villas is a Missouri Housing Development Commission (MHDC) project that will provide affordable housing to seniors 55 and older. However, Mooney said Stone Ridge Villas will offer more than a safe, comfortable, and affordable housing option to people in the lakes area. It will also provide special services to its residents like free transportation.

“We believe the proximity to retail, places of worship, and other services will make it an ideal location for seniors. We are also planning on having a community van that takes residents to activities at the Senior Center and around the lake area,” Mooney said.

MRE Capital is based in Overland Park, Kansas and has also developed housing projects in Branson and Hollister. Rock Ridge Apartments are one, two, and three bedroom apartments in Branson. Rock Ridge Villas are two and three bedroom homes in Branson. Both are located off Schaefer Drive in Branson. MRE Capital’s development in Hollister is Sycamore Spring, which is an apartment complex that offers one, two, and three bedroom units.

Mooney said he is no stranger to the Table Rock area and the Ozarks. He said he is excited to be a part of the Kimberling City community through the development of this project.

“My family has been part of the Table Rock Lake community since 1960 and we look forward to continuing to grow with the city for long into the future,” Mooney said.

Potential Stone Ridge Villas residents will be able to apply through Valhalla Management (www.managevalhalla.com) or by calling 417-334-4078.

“We are very excited to open and start taking applications in the next 30 days,” Mooney said.
