May 24, 2018
A 3-day seminar on Management-intensive Grazing for economic and environmental sustainability. Two farm tours are scheduled along with classroom teaching. Activities begin at 8:30 a.m. each day and will end at approximately 4:00 p.m. Sign up early. Minimum people to hold the school is 15. The event will be held at Hilltop Church, 810 State Hwy D, Crane.
Registration fee has been set at $135.00 per person and $90.00 for each additional person from the same operation (will receive only one set of books and reference materials). The fee includes lunches, breaks, a grazing stick, Missouri Grazing Manual, Missouri Livestock Water Manual, Missouri Electric Fencing Manual, Forages and Weeds of Pasture Manual and other pertinent materials. Dress appropriately for weather conditions on tour days.
Registration is based on first come - first serve basis, upon receipt of the registration fee. If the class is full, registration fee will be returned.
Registration forms and payment must be received no later than Wednesday June 13, 2018. Registration fee will not be refunded after that date.
This is a basic grazing school that will cover all aspects of grazing, including forage growth, pasture fertility, soils, layout and design of grazing systems, fencing and water systems, livestock nutritional needs and economics. Completion of the school will help qualify you to meet NRCS and SWCD grazing practice requirements for financial assistance when implementing a practice. All sessions are part of the grazing school and must be attended as a whole.
The detailed class agenda and directions will be sent to you with your registration confirmation letter.
This school is sponsored by the USDA-Natural Resource Conservation Service, University of Missouri Extension, and the Stone County Soil and Water Conservation District
