Stone County Recovery Center Celebrates Grand Opening

Reeds Springs pastor Mark Baker and his wife Rose were amazed at the difference Tammy McLaughlin’s hard work had made as she walked them through basement of their church. It was the first time they had seen it since August 22, when they granted her permission to use the space for the Stone County Recovery Center.
October 8th was the day Tammy chose for the grand opening because it was also the 7-year anniversary of her own recovery. “I’ve been working on it full time since I got permission to use the place” said Tammy.
“It’ll be a safe environment because people get lost out here. I know I didn’t have a place to go,” she said, “I know if I’d had somewhere to go in my recovery or before, when I was in my addiction, it might have been different but that’s what led me here. I hope this place affects all of Stone County”
The recovery center won’t charge a fee for people in need of a place to begin their long journey towards recovery. They offer a warm meal, clothes, internet access and, most importantly, a helping hand. There is a wall with a few signatures written on it, the names written there are names of people who began their recovery at the new Stone County facility. Tammy hopes to see it full one day.
