Stone County Receives Certified Work Ready Community Status

February 28, 2019

The Missouri Job Center is pleased to announce that Stone County has achieved the status of ACT Certified Work Ready Community by the State of Missouri. To celebrate this accomplishment, the community is invited to attend a celebration reception on Tuesday, March 5, 11:00 a.m. at the Stone County Courthouse in Galena.

Community leaders as well as local elected officials will be recognized at the reception for their work in achieving Certified Work Ready Community status, including a plaque presentation by a representative from the Missouri Department of Workforce Development.

“To obtain certification, Stone County met goals in four areas, all of which were surpassed,” said Mary Ann Rojas, Director of Workforce Development at the Missouri Job Center. “We are excited to help celebrate this milestone with them,” Rojas said.

The ACT Work Ready Community Program is designed to provide a community-based framework that focuses on the current workforce needs and helps reduce the skills gap. This initiative allows for a more stream-lined approach to connect education to workforce development. Communities that attain certification are helping to promote their local economies by increasing the quality of the workforce and anticipating the needs of area businesses.

“With the addition of Stone County, all seven counties in the Missouri Job Center Ozark Region have attained this status making our region 100% Certified Work Ready,” Rojas added.
