Stone County Historical Society quilt block chosen to represent county in Bicentennial Quilt

The Bicentennial Quilt is comprised of quilt blocks from each county in Missouri.  The Stone County Historical Society submitted an entry designed and quilted by Linda Cutbirth and Meta Shriner members of the Stone County Historical Society. Our entry was chosen to represent Stone County.  Due to Covid19, we were unable to get the quilt for display in our county.  This will be a chance for our residents to view this piece of folk art.

The next stop in the Missouri Bicentennial Quilt final tour is the SHSMO Springfield Research Center. The quilt will be on display in Springfield from June 15 to July 29. Visit and see the quilt in room 306 of the Meyer Library on the Missouri State University campus. SHSMO-Springfield is open Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Appointments are not required to visit the quilt.

On June 15, join us for a special quilt exhibition reception at SHSMO-Springfield from 4-6 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided, and the event is free.
