Stone County Court News

Skyler Allen                                                                     Alexander Scheuemer                                                    Colten Roberson
Skyler Allen, 29, of Galena, pled guilty to felony resisting arrest charges and was sentenced in Stone County Circuit Court last week.

Matt Selby, Stone County Prosecuting Attorney, said that at about 2:30 a.m. on April 12, 2021, the owner of some storage sheds noticed an unauthorized vehicle at the storage units. There had been a number of recent break-ins in the area, so the owner called 911 to report the suspicious activity. He described the suspect and described the vehicle as a red Ford F-250. Stone County Deputy Merenghi was dispatched to the area and told that the vehicle had just left the storage units. The officer saw taillights leaving the area, followed the vehicle, and then initiated the lights on his patrol vehicle in an attempt to stop the suspect to investigate the situation further.

After the vehicle accelerated and sped away, the officer began a pursuit. The pickup drove at a high rate of speed, ran through stop signs, and eventually wrecked when it failed to negotiate a curve on Rodeo Road in northern Stone County. The driver was identified as Skyler Allen and was placed under arrest. A passenger in the vehicle was not injured. Deputy Merenghi found items commonly used to break into houses and other buildings in the truck.

The Prosecutor’s Office filed felony resisting arrest charges. Following a guilty plea, Selby remained consistent with his policy to seek prison sentences in cases where persons fled from officers in vehicles. Selby asked the court to sentence the defendant to five years in the Missouri Department of Corrections. Circuit Judge David Cole followed the recommendation in handing down the sentence. The prosecutor reiterated that he would continue to have no tolerance in these cases because of the danger they create for law-abiding citizens on Stone County roads.

In a few other cases this month, Colten Roberson was sentenced to four years in prison on weapon and drug charges; Amanda Rodiguez was sentenced into a prison treatment program on drug charges; Alexander Scheuerman was sent to prison for five years on felony domestic assault charges; Zachary Revera-Silva had his probation revoked on meth charges and was sentenced to five years in prison. Josh Whiteman, forgery; Doyle Crocket, possession; and Amos Wilson, stealing, all were placed on probation following guilty pleas in their felony cases.
