Stone Co. Soil and Water  holding election Wed. April 18

​April 5, 2018
       Stone County Soil & Water Conservation District will hold an election for Board Supervisors in Areas 2 and 4. This election will take place on Wednesday, April 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Stone Co. Soil and Water District offices, located at 108B Courtney Lane in Crane. 
       “We would like to invite land representatives that we serve as well as those we have not,” the SWCD said in a release.
Eligibility to vote: Only land representatives of the district owning one farm will receive one vote regardless of the number of farms owned. If owned jointly, two votes allowed. If corporately owned, one vote cast by authorized land representative. 
       Please take this opportunity to visit and meet with staff about programs available while casting a vote.
       Various food and snacks will be available. 
  • Area 2 Candidate: Larry Israel 
  • Area 4 Candidate: Jerry Youngblood
       ​The nominating committee in each area was assigned with reaching out to qualified candidates who would be willing to serve in the designated area within the district. Therefore, if any landowner residing in the designated area that was not nominated by the committee wishes to have their name added to the ballot may do so if they meet the qualifications and secure a petition of at least ten (10) land representative signatures in their territory they wish to represent. The petition must be submitted to the district office at least ten days ahead of the election. Supervisors manage the administration of district policies and programs that is supported by the one-tenth of one-percent parks, soils and water sales tax.
