Justin Dean Silverheels, of St. Joseph, pled guilty to three counts of tampering with a motor vehicle in the first degree, one count of burglary in the second degree, and one count of stealing $25,000 or more. Silverheels was sentenced to five years incarceration with the Department of Corrections. Silverheels pled guilty last month in Barry County Circuit Court.
In October 2017, Silverheels was in Lawrence County Jail for a stolen vehicle. At the time, multiple other vehicles were also reported missing from Barry County and the Crane area. While in custody, Silverheels admitted to “punching” the ignition and stealing a Jeep as well as other vehicles, including a Nissan truck and a Chevrolet Tahoe with his brother.
Around the same time period, Silverheels also committed a burglary on State Highway TT near Crane where he stole tools, firearms, cash, CD/bonds and other documents, valued at $27,120.91. He had over $4,000 cash on him when he was arrested.
Justin Silverheels was also sentenced to incarceration in Lawrence County after pleading guilty to burglary in the second degree, property damage, stealing of $750 or more and receiving stolen property. Online court records indicate all Lawrence and Barry County sentences are to run concurrently.
Silverheels’ brother, Timothy, is currently serving a sentence of seven years incarceration with the Department of Corrections. He was sentenced in September in Lawrence County after pleading guilty to similar charges as his brother.
