Soldier With Ties To The Area Receives Promotion

Maj. Gen. Troy Galloway became the Deputy Commanding General – Operations on 1 May 2019. He is responsible for assisting the Commanding General with the training, readiness, and mobilization of all Army National Guard and Army Reserve units across the United States and two U.S. territories.
Maj. Gen. Galloway joins the First Army team after serving as the Deputy Commanding General, ARNG, Combined Arms Center, the Deputy to the Commanding General Combined Arms Center and the Provost of Army University, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
Maj. Gen. Galloway completed the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Missouri State University and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant, Field Artillery in May 1990. He joined the Arkansas Army National Guard in June 1991 and was assigned to the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade. Maj. Gen. Galloway served in key staff positions and as a Commander at the Battery, Battalion, and Brigade level, within the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade. He deployed from March 2007 to March 2008, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, as the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade Deputy Commander. He commanded the Fort Chaffee Joint Maneuver Training Center from 2015-2016. Maj. Gen. Galloway serves on the Arkansas Veterans Commission, the Northwest Arkansas Council, and has worked in government for the majority of his civilian career.
