Winter Weather Makeup Days Set at Schools

February 15, 2018
Isaac Estes-Jones
Several recent bouts of snowy and icy weather have led Stone County schools to schedule makeup days.
The state of Missouri requires that students attend at least a specific number of instruction hours, so days missed due to weather have to be made up later in the year.
Since moving to the four day school week, Crane Schools will makeup their missed days on Mondays that students otherwise would not have been at school. Crane will be in session:
  • Monday, February 19
  • Monday, February 26
Galena School District has also scheduled makeup days. As of press time, Galena’s last day for the year is set for Tuesday, May 22, with dismissal at 11:45 a.m. Galena makeup days are:
  • Monday, February 19
  • Monday, April 2
  • Thursday, May 17
  • Friday, May 18
  • Monday, May 21
  • Tuesday, May 22 (half day)
Hurley schools have also set makeup days. They will be in session:
  • Friday, February 16
  • Monday, February 19
  • Friday, March 16
  • Monday, April 2
  • Monday, May 14 (last day of school)
Reeds Spring School District still needs to set four more makeup days. These dates will be selected at the school board meeting scheduled for February 21.` Currently, school is scheduled for:
  • Friday, February 16 (half day)
  • Monday, February 19
Should any more weather close schools this winter, the Chronicle will report additional makeup days as they are scheduled.
