Sleeping Driver Crashes In Crane Last Week

A Nixa man fell asleep while driving last week and crashed into the grassy area at the intersection of State Route D and Highway 413 in Crane. According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Jacob M. Bruton, 18, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe north on Highway 413 when the incident occurred on Saturday, March 14.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., Bruton fell asleep and the Tahoe went off the side of the road. The vehicle hit the embankment and became airborne before coming to rest in an empty field.

Jacob Bruton suffered moderate injuries in the crash. He was wearing a seat belt. He was taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield for treatment.

The 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe had moderate damage, according to the report. It was towed from the scene by Double Eagle Towing, of Marionville.

This incident was investigated by Trooper J. M. Linegar of Missouri State Highway Patrol.
