Simmering Center Under New Ownership

The Simmering Center, formerly The Larry Simmering Recovery Center has labored for more than 14 months to purchase their existing building from the long-term owner Council of Churches of The Ozarks. The sale closed March 29 and the Simmering Center is now under the ownership of the Simmering Center, Inc., a 501c3 nonprofit.

The Simmering Center is the only National Alliance of Recovery Residences (NARR) certified facility in the Taney and Stone County area. It is also the oldest facility of its type in the area that was built on land donated by Herschend Family Entertainment. The building funds were donated by Janet Dailey and the generous people of the Taney County community, driven by Larry Simmering who was known as the local Culligan Man.

The Simmering Center is a structured sober living facility that assists and supports those seeking long-term recovery from substance use.

“This is an incredible accomplishment that now places a Taney County asset truly into the hands of the Taney County community,” says Rod Glaze, chief financial officer. “The Simmering Center is here to serve this community and help those in need of recovery from alcohol and drug addiction.”

The Simmering Center was originally the Tri-Lakes Sigma House Branson, built in 1990. After seeing the success of the Springfield Sigma House and at the urging of Dorsey Levell, the Sigma House building was constructed.

In celebration of the purchase of the building, the Simmering Center is hosting a ribbon cutting and open house on Thursday, June 27. The ribbon cutting will be at 5 p.m., with a program starting at 5:30 p.m. that will include speakers and live entertainment. Refreshments will be served and tours of the center will be available for 30 minutes prior to the ribbon cutting and 30 minutes after the conclusion of the program.

The mission of the Simmering Center is to provide a safe haven where individuals can seek recovery in all areas of healthy living. To learn more about the center, visit simmeringcenter.org.
