In the early morning hours on Monday, Stone County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to an address off of DD Highway. Before the morning was over, there would be a high speed chase and another patrol vehicle would be hit by the suspect.
According to press releases from the Stone County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to a possible home invasion on Vista Ridge Drive, although the suspect had fled the scene. Investigators say the owner of the residence gave the deputies a name they were familiar with, Daniel Porter Walker, 40, of Reeds Spring.
As the deputies neared the intersection of Eagle Ridge Drive and State Highway DD, they met a vehicle they believed to belonged to the suspect. "As they passed," the release says, "the driver of the vehicle was illuminated by the deputies' lights and they could identify him as the one named by the victim."
The deputies then turned around and attempted to stop the vehicle. Instead of stopping, the release says, the driver failed to pull over and continued up DD Highway at speeds in excess of 65 miles per hour in places. The pursuit continued north on DD to Talking Rocks Road, where Walker allegedly went up Talking Rocks Road to Business 13. At that intersection, the sheriff's department deployed a set of "stop sticks," a tire deflation device. Walker's vehicle reportedly continued north on Business 13 while it was losing rubber from its tires. It pulled behind Claybough Plaza, where it "did come into contact with one of the pursuing patrol vehicles," the press release states.
Daniel Walker was arrested shortly after, when his vehicle came to a stop.
He had two active felony narcotic warrants for his arrest; one was for possession of narcotics and one was probation violation, the release states. He was taken into custody and transported to the Stone County Jail on the warrants. His bond for those warrants was a combined $35,000 cash-only from the two combined warrants. Deputies also submitted probable cause statements for the events of Monday morning.
On Tuesday, following review from the Stone County Prosecuting Attorney, Walker was issued four additional felony charges for an additional $50,000 cash-only bond. Walker is charged with second degree burglary, possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest for a felony and first degree property damage.
