RS XC Team Third At Willard

The Reeds Spring High School cross country team finished third overall at the Willard Invitational last week. Ethan Gordon finished 21st, Cole Weydert 24th, Evan Brandsma 29th, Tanner Hirschi 31st, Thomas Pinion 41st and CJ Merritt 47th.


Softball


The Reeds Spring High School softball team improved to 8-3 on the season after winning three games last week. The Lady Wolves defeated Republic 9-1, Marshfield 6-1 and Monett 4-0.


Against Monett, Izzy Erickson struck out 18 batters. At the plate, Erickson had three hits. Brooke Davis, Kaleala Vangenderen and Alexis Baskins added two hits each.


Tennis


The girls tennis team dropped three matches last week. The Lady Wolves lost to Willow Springs, 9-0, to Springfield Central, 7-2 and to Kickapoo, 7-2. Against Kickapoo and Central, freshmen Sophia Brown and Olivia Giebler won singles matches. Senior Julia Wright beat Kickapoo’s #2 player in singles, winning a tie-breaker 7-3 after tying 8-8 in games.


At the Springfield Invitational, the doubles team Ashlyn Shafer and McKenzie Coffelt advanced to the third round.


Volleyball


The Lady Wolves fell to Branson, 2-0. The team’s record is 5-3-1.


Football


The Wolves lost a home game to Mt. Vernon, 30-0. The team’s record is 2-2 on the season. RSHS travels to Springfield Catholic on Friday, September 30.
