Reeds Spring Mayor Rob Chamberlin said that the Reeds Spring Board of Aldermen had placed Police Chief Tracy West on paid administrative leave. Chamberlin says he cannot disclose the reason at this time, but to his understanding, it was more of an issue of incompatibility with the board and not wrongdoing on West’s behalf.
Chamberlin said the board has also released city clerk Jenny Dye from service. Chamberlin cites incompatibility with city policies as the reason for her release. He says the board gave Jenny Dye severance pay and a letter of recommendation.
Lastly, police department clerk Jayme Dye, daughter of Jenny Dye, was let go because of downsizing in the police department due to budgetary restraints. The mayor said that Jayme Dye did absolutely nothing wrong.
Chamberlin says the Reeds Spring police officers will expand their duties to cover the former position, which is something many smaller forces do. Chamberlin says Jayme Dye was also given good recommendations from the city.
There was a recent turnover of board members, two by a vote in the last election; one member resigned due to illness in the family and was replaced by appointment. Chamberlin says the board is making tremendous strides in improving Reeds Spring’s infrastructure and morale.
