Route D in northern Stone County will be resurfaced starting June 3. Signs were put up at both ends of the highway last week.

Blevins Asphalt of Mt. Vernon won the low bid to resurface routes D, TT and Z.

Work on Route D was originally scheduled to begin the week of April 29, but was delayed due to the rainy month of May.

The roadwork is scheduled to take around 6 weeks, barring any further weather delays.

Crews will resurface the highway between 248 at Wheelerville and Highway 265/413 in Crane.

Crews also will use pilot vehicles to lead traffic through the work areas. Drivers on side roads should wait for the pilot vehicle before entering roadways where the resurfacing work is taking place.

A Missouri Department of Transportation press release says drivers “can expect one-lane traffic and crews and equipment on Barry/Stone County Route D.”

As always, drivers are reminded to drive safely, especially in work zones and not to use cell phones/other devices while driving.
