Reeds Spring School District Hires Assistant Superintendent

May 2, 2019

The Reeds Spring School District has promoted Dr. Travis Kite to assistant superintendent of teaching and learning, effective July 1. Kite is currently the principal of Reeds Spring Middle School.

Incoming superintendent Dr. Cody Hirschi created this position by expanding the responsibilities of the soon-to-be vacant Director of Instruction role. In addition to overseeing curriculum, assessment and instruction, Dr. Kite will have the added responsibility of supervising building administrators. This new role will also ensure that there is another individual in the central office that has the appropriate certification to lead the school district. Dr. Hirschi and a committee of staff members and administrators interviewed several talented leaders before selecting Kite.

“Dr. Kite’s vast leadership experience across various grade levels will be a tremendous asset to the district,” Hirschi said. “His ability to value and honor individuals in the change process will help unify the district and advance teaching and learning.”

Kite has spent the last six years serving as RSMS principal. Previously, he was principal of Reeds Spring Primary School.

“This new role will allow me to continue to provide meaningful learning opportunities for our students,” Kite said. “Throughout the district, we have amazing teams of educators who develop relationships with kids and make decisions based on what is best for students. Providing support for the teachers and administrators is an opportunity that I look forward to in this new position.”
