October 3, 2019
The Table Rock Lake Chamber of Commerce and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library honored Mrs. Kim Hammer as the Teacher of the Month for September. Mrs. Hammer teaches fourth grade at Reeds Spring Elementary School.
“Kim is an innovative thinker and brings a high level of energy into her teaching,” said principal Laura Weber. “She maintains high standards in her classroom while using a positive, supportive approach with all students.”
Hammer joined the RSES team three years ago after spending two years of teaching fifth grade at Reeds Spring Intermediate School.
“Mrs. Hammer excels at providing a variety of learning activities that include opportunities for collaboration and critical thinking. Her approach allows for increased student motivation and a sense of security for her students to take risks as they learn,” Weber said.
Students in Mrs. Hammer’s class say they love science lessons because they learn about exciting things and do fun activities.
The Reeds Spring School District honored technology coordinator Randy Summers as the Employee of the Month for September. Summers and the rest of the technology department had an incredible workload before the start of the school year. They had to prepare new iPads and laptops for students and staff. They also had to upgrade to Windows 10 on all devices district-wide. There were also significant upgrades to the district’s servers and new printers had to be prepared.
“With all of these responsibilities, Randy managed to stay kind, helpful, and timely while helping others,” said director of operations Steve Verheyen. “Like a duck on a pond, he seems graceful even though his feet are paddling a million miles a minute. Randy packs 12 hours of work into an eight-hour day. For all he does, we are grateful.”
