A Stone County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle was damaged last week following a pursuit. The deputies involved were not harmed.
According to a press release from Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader, Stone County Deputies stopped to check a Chevrolet Tahoe that was stopped outside of Galena on 413 at about 4:30 a.m.
The vehicle, allegedly driven by Joshua Drennen, 34, of Desoto, sped away as the deputies approached. The deputies pursued the Tahoe south on 413 toward Reeds Spring. The vehicle first rammed the patrol vehicle outside of Reeds Spring.
The pursuit continued to Route HH off of Highway 76. Near the intersection with Tillman Road, Drennen reportedly hit the patrol vehicle a second time. As the Tahoe went back up HH toward 76, spike strips were deployed, causing it to lose two tires. Drennen did not stop, however. According to the release, the vehicle was “running on wheels all the way through Cape Fair on 76 highway,” the report states.
The vehicle finally crashed just north of the Highway 76/Highway 173 intersection at Cape Fair.
Drennen reportedly fled the scene on foot but was apprehended a short time later.
The passenger in the vehicle, a 44 year old Sheila Graves, was also arrested. Both she and Drennen are charged with Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer in Stone County. Drennen is also being held on a probation and parole warrant out of Jefferson County. Online court records indicate that Drennen faces charges relating to domestic assault. Both are being held in the Stone County Jail.
Sheriff Rader says that no deputies involved in the pursuit were injured. However, one patrol vehicle has severe damage. Costs related to repair were not readily available.
