Three people recently moved into Galena from California. Bob Wilson, his wife Margie and their friend Mac, who does not want his last name revealed, came to town after living in California for many years. While at a recent city council meeting, the new citizens heard Galena Police Chief Lynn Rhoads present a “wish list” of items he would like to have in the department. They knew they wanted to do something to help.
So, the Wilsons and Mac pooled their money together and purchased a shotgun for the police department. They presented the firearm and two boxes of ammunition to Chief Rhoads at the Galena City Council meeting on Thursday, February 1.
“I just thought it was ridiculous that they couldn’t afford to get him a shotgun,” Bob Wilson said. “I’m a former Marine and deal in military relics, but we just wanted to help out.”
“I greatly appreciate this,” said Chief Rhoads.
