Mt. Vernon Man Charged With Statutory Assault

        A 28 year old Mt. Vernon man is being held in the Stone County Jail without bond. Wade Tutton is accused of assaulting a minor during an event that took place on May 5. 
        According to affidavits of probable cause, three adults, including Tutton, and a juvenile female, were camping in Galena the night of Saturday, May 5. Tutton allegedly forced himself onto the female, to the point that she had visible injuries when detectives interviewed her in the ER. Tutton allegedly admitted to forcing himself onto the victim after he was arrested. 
        ​Tutton was booked into the Stone County Jail on Sunday, May 6 after 8 p.m. according to online jail records. He is being held without bond. His next court appearance has not yet been set.
