This red 1952 Chevrolet truck took first place in one of the categories during the Broiler Festival parade. The vehicle belongs to Susie Rinker, right, says her grandfather Rinker used the vehicle as a farm truck. She got the vehicle restored and it was recently delivered to her in beautiful condition. Susie was also Miss Slick Chick in 1968. At left is Tonyia Landry.
A soggy start to Saturday didn’t stop the annual Crane Broiler Festival Parade. Families lined Main Street as the rain poured down. Parents and kids huddled under awnings and in the back of open SUVs. Above, some of the winners of Friday evening’s Slick Chick pageant prepare to toss candy to onlookers. The rain gave way to a cool, cloudy day, perfect for enjoying all of the sights and sounds of the Broiler Festival.
