Medical Marijuana Application Data Released: 15 Applications In Stone Co.
September 19, 2019

After Missouri passed Amendment 2 in November of last year, wheels started turning at the state level to certify medical marijuana facilities by the end of the year. As part of that effort, the Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) released data from the over 2,000 applications for medical marijuana facilities it received. Of those 2,163 applications, 15 are located in Stone County.
These applicants are seeking one of only 348 licenses the state plans to award by the end of this year. Across all of Missouri, the state will award 192 licenses for dispensaries, 60 for cultivation facilities, 86 for manufacturing facilities and 10 for testing labs.
In Stone County, seven of the 15 applications are for dispensaries, with four vying for a cultivation license, three seeking to manufacture marijuana products and one company hoping to test products before they are sold to the public.
Five of the Stone County applicants hope to open more than one facility outside of the county. According to the data released last week, Curaleaf MO, Inc.; Ozark Mountain Healing, LLC; SW Retail Holdings, LLC; Common C License Holder Holdings LLC; and COMO HEALTH LLC all want to open dispensaries in Stone County, with other dispensaries, cultivation facilities and manufacturing in several counties.

Once applications have been approved, businesses will be able to start working on their facilities to be ready when medical marijuana is offered for sale in the state at some point in 2020.
Further rule making within Stone County and various localities will continue. On Tuesday, September 17, the Stone County Commission voted to approve amendments to the county’s Planning and Zoning specifically pertaining to medical marijuana facilities in the county.
A total of 18 separate amendments were proposed and approved by the Planning and Zoning Board and the county commission.
The full details on these amendments and any other action by the county will be covered in a later article.
