The Village of McCord Bend recently paid tribute to a man who dedicated over two decades to the village. Richard Brunken served the community for 25 years and was instrumental in a number of improvements. The village presented a plaque honoring his service in January.

Specifically, Brunken worked tirelessly to get the community water system in place, according to current Village Trustee Chair Mandi Carr. “[The water system is] a vital service to the residents of McCord Bend,” Carr said.

Brunken made the decision to retire from public service in 2017. Sadly, shortly thereafter he was diagnosed with cancer and passed away in 2019.

In order to recognize the service Richard Brunken provided to the village, the board of trustees presented a plaque honoring his service to his wife, Cindy Brunken, at the January 14 meeting of the board of trustees. “The Village would like to thank Mr. Brunken and his family for the years of service he gave the community.”

The plaque honoring Brunken reads, “In memory of Richard Brunken for his years of dedicated loyalty and hard work for the McCord Bend Village.”
