Stone County Circuit Court Sentences Eight for Felonies

The following individuals were sentenced for felony crimes in Stone County Circuit Court from March 15 to April 15, 2018.
Of the 8 sentenced, all eight plead guilty and two were given terms in state prison.
• Kyle L. Benson, of Galena, pled guilty to felony possession of a controlled substance. He received a suspended imposition of sentencing and five years of supervised probation.
Bensen was found with methamphetamine and a pipe on November 1, 2017. He also reportedly admitted to smoking the drug prior to law enforcement arriving.
Benson is to serve probation until April 2, 2023.
• Troy Tyler James Garcia, of Houston, Texas, pled guilty to possession of a controlled substance in relation to a case from January 2018. Garcia received a suspended execution of a four year sentence with the Department of Corrections and five years of supervised probation.
Stone County Deputies stopped Garcia on January 30, 2018. After the K9 from Reeds Spring arrived and alerted to drugs in the vehicle, a search uncovered 15 syringes, meth, marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. Garcia told the arresting officer that the residue on some of the paraphernalia was black tar heroin.
Garcia is to serve probation until March 14, 2023.
• Kyle Dean Gentry, of Reeds Spring, pled guilty to possession of a controlled substance from June of 2017, burglary in the first degree, stealing of $750 or more, felony resisting arrest and a second count of possession of a controlled substance in relation to a case from November - December 2017 and also pled guilty to felony damage to jail/jail property from January of this year.
Gentry received concurrent sentences for the charges, with the longest sentence being seven years. He received seven years, each, for the possession charges, the burglary charge and the stealing charge. He also received four years for resisting arrest and damage to jail property. All of these prison terms are to be served concurrently.
On June 28, 2017, Gentry was arrested after a traffic stop near Reeds Spring. A search of the vehicle revealed a methamphetamine pipe.
On November 30, 2017, Gentry went into a residence in Kimberling City and took the keys to a vehicle. He then drove the vehicle away. A few days later, on December 2, 2017, The same vehicle was seen driving very slowly down the road, due to extensive damage to both the front and rear of the vehicle. When Missouri State Highway Patrol attempted to stop Gentry, he lead Highway Patrol and officers from other agencies on a chase throughout the middle portion of Stone County. Gentry hit the Highway Patrol vehicle that was pursuing him. Once he was finally stopped and arrested, Gentry was found with methamphetamine on his person.
On January 20 of this year, while Gentry was being held in the Stone County Jail awaiting further court appearances on the other charges, he took a shower fixture off the wall in the jail, which led to broken water pipes and a portion of the jail flooding.
• Shelly Ann Hodge, of Branson West, previously pled guilty to persistent offender DWI. She received a suspended execution of sentencing and five years probation in March 2017. Her probation has since been revoked and she was remanded to the Department of Corrections for 120 days of shock incarceration.
On December 30, 2016, Hodge, who had a suspended license, drove her vehicle while drunk. When she got out of the vehicle, she failed to set the emergency brake and it rolled down the embankment. While being transported to the hospital because she said the car ran over her foot, Hodge refused to take a breath test, perform field sobriety checks or provide a blood sample.
• Brennan Michael Hughes, of Reeds Spring, pled guilty to felony possession of a controlled substance in November 2017. After serving 120 days of shock incarceration, he received a suspended execution of five years incarceration and five years supervised probation.
Hughes was arrested on September 3, 2017, after his family called for a psychiatric check. He was found with methamphetamine while he was on probation for a previous drug charge.
Hughes is to serve probation until April 17, 2023.
• Christopher L. Huskey, of Blue Eye, pled guilty to possession of a controlled substance. He received a suspended imposition of sentencing and five years of supervised probation.
During a traffic stop on December 20, 2017, Huskey threw a hat with a digital scale and methamphetamine out of the vehicle before stopping. He admitted after arrest that the items were his and that they were drugs.
Huskey is to serve probation until April 3, 2023.
• Jasmine Tara Jensen, of Reeds Spring, pled guilty to felony possession of a controlled substance on April 3, 2018. She received a suspended imposition of sentencing and five years of supervised probation.
Jensen was arrested at the same time as Kyle Benson, above. She was found in possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia.
Jensen is to serve probation until April 3, 2023.
• Robin Jill Smith-Thomas, of Ridgedale, pled guilty to felony possession of a controlled substance. She received a suspended imposition of sentencing and five years of supervised probation.
Indian Point Police stopped Smith-Thomas on September 8, 2017, because the vehicle she was driving did not have the proper license plates displayed. During the stop, Smith-Thomas informed the officers that there was marijuana in the vehicle. However, during the subsequent search, no marijuana was found. The officers did find a piece of straw and two baggies containing methamphetamine.
Smith-Thomas is to serve probation until March 20, 2023.
