Local DAR Presents Good Citizen Awards For Class Of 2019

The Elk Horn Prairie Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution announce the 2019 Good Citizen Awards: Savannah Marie Miller-Aurora, Kaitlynn Ashlie Robinson-Crane; Madison Lee Mathewson-Galena; Hailey Arvilla White-Hurley; Tabatha Lynn Morrison-Marionville; Colton John Hicks-Mt. Vernon; Bethany Dale Gulick-Miller; and Rita Maria Castillo-Verona. These students received a certificate, pin, and wallet card.


Elk Horn Prairie Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution met on May 2, 2019  at 1:00 p.m. at the Aurora Library. Regent Noralee Faulkner and Cheryl Schoen opened the meeting with the Ritual, Pledge of Allegiance, and American’s Creed.  Regent Faulkner introduced Guest Speaker, Willie Washam. His educational program: “Preservation of A One Room School” was enhanced by books, maps, pictures, facts, and knowledgeable Information. Many monetary donations and all volunteer labor has contributed to restoration of this school.


Regent Faulkner read the President General’s message. Barbara Cohu gave the National Defense Report and Flag Fact; Sandy Mason Treasurer gave report and Constitution report of the 7th Amendment. Regent Faulkner gave the Sunshine Report, Thank You correspondence for Honors Tea, successful Tea for The Apple Hill Gift House held April 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. in Mt. Vernon for the $10,000 donation for the President General’s project called Fisher House (special thanks to Regent Faulkner, Margaret Kane, and Sandy Mason), and her attendance of Award Program in Monett. New Business included New Officers Installation, Facebook Group by Barbara Brach, and donations from members for Mt. Vernon Veteran Home.
