Local Authors Gathering In Kimberling City Saturday

January 30, 2020
Isaac Estes-Jones

Join dozens of local and regional authors at the annual Kimberling Area Library Meet the Authors event this Saturday, February 1, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is the eighth year running for the free event.

Over 40 authors from the area are scheduled to appear, with ten speaking on various topics and their works. “We are offering this enlightening free event to provide individuals an opportunity to meet talented authors, discuss their books and purchase an autographed copy of their books,” said festival co-chairperson Mary Plate. “We also have an interesting line-up of speakers, and a book will be given away after each speaker’s presentation.”

Of the ten speakers, the library is highlighting Martha Knox and Paul William Bass. Knox has been recognized by the Library of Congress for APH for Large Print Book Design for Dyslexic and Special Needs Readers. She will discuss her work researching the increase in female authors between the World Wars.

Bass won a Major Work Award from the Missouri Writers Guild for his book covering the history of Fort Leonard Wood. He will discuss his new book, “Missouri Innovators.”

Knox is scheduled to present at 10:10 a.m. with Bass presenting at 11:40 a.m. The first speaker will begin at around 9:50 a.m. and the last will present at 1:10 p.m. Each of the ten authors will present for around 20 minutes, based on the schedule provided by the KAL.
