Learn All About The Real Baldknobbers at Kimberling City Event

February 27, 2020
The March edition of Kimberling Area Library’s Learning on Wednesday will be a treat for those interested in local history.

On Wednesday, March 11, at 10 a.m., the Kimberling Area Library will host a presentation titled, “The Politics of the Baldknobbers’ Vigilante Group and Creation of the Baldknobbers Movie,” from Curtis Copeland. Copeland is part of the Society of Ozarkian Hillcrofters.

The presentation will cover the social and political issues that lead to the creation of the Baldknobbers vigilante group in the 1880s. The group was active in Stone and Taney Counties from around 1883 to 1889.

Copeland will discuss the formation of the group and some of their activities.

He will also discuss the locally made, but world-wide distributed, film about the group.

The “Learning on Wednesday” series is created and hosted by the Kimberling Area Library on the second Wednesday of each month. Each presentation covers a different event or topic to educate attendees. These events are free and open to the public, without prior registration. Coffee and breakfast breads are provided.
