A Lampe man suffered serious injuries after crashing a truck into a building while allegedly driving while intoxicated.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Jose A. Colon, 42, of Lampe, was driving a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 when the crash occurred on Monday, March 9, in Taney County.
The vehicle was heading west on Highway 86 when the incident occurred. The truck had crossed the Long Creek Bridge over the lake when, at 9:15 p.m., it ran off the road and hit a “residential building,” according to the report. Based on GPS coordinates supplied in the crash report, the truck most likely hit a structure associated with the D’Monaco Resort.
The 2015 Dodge Ram was totaled in the crash. It was towed from the scene by Chris’s Towing.
Jose A. Colon was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield for treatment.
Prior to his release to medical personnel, the Highway Patrol requested charges be filed. According to online arrest records from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, troopers allege Colon was driving while intoxicated, was driving with a suspended license and was careless and imprudent driving, resulting in an accident. Finally, the patrol issued a citation for no seat belt.
This incident was investigated by Trooper J. S. Schwartz.
