Kimberling City Knights of Columbus Tootsie Rolls
December 10, 2020
The Kimberling City Knights of Columbus (KCKOC) Chapter 7588 is unable to hand out Tootsie Rolls this year to meet the $20,000.00 fundraising goal. However, COVID-19 is not stopping them from their efforts to raise funds for their mission. At this time, KOC has opened a Go-Fund-Me account for a virtual canvass. They are also reaching out to local businesses to help them in their campaign.
Area businesses will place a case of the large size Tootsie Rolls on the counter alongside a collection can for donations. When a customer comes up to the counter purchas a Tootsie Roll and leave their donation in the can.
Most of the funds raised are dispersed locally for area children with developmental disabilities. Both Blue Eye and Reeds Spring Special Education Departments are beneficiaries of the KCKOC campaign.
CHANCES of Stone County also benefits from the Tootsie Roll drive. CHANCES is a program that assists children and adults with developmental disabilities reach a higher quality of life.
A small portion of the funding is sent to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.
According to Bill Bitter, KCKOC spokesman, the campaign will run longer than usual this year due to the extraordinary circumstances. Bitter said that the campaign will run through January 15, 2021.
