In only his first term in office, State Rep. Brad Hudson has already earned the praise of House leadership for the work he has done to support and promote tourism in Missouri. This week House Speaker Elijah Haahr presented Hudson with a Freshman Legislator of the Year Award for the work he has done as an advocate for an industry that employs 300,000 Missourians and produces an estimated $1.4 billion in revenue for the state.

In presenting him with the award, Speaker Haahr noted Hudson played a pivotal role in the budget process in the House to secure additional funding to promote tourism. As a member of the House Budget Committee, Hudson was able to allocate an additional $1.5 million for the Missouri Division of Tourism to help promote the state as a travel destination.

“Representative Hudson has quickly become a respected voice on the House Budget Committee. He has done an outstanding job in fighting for the tourism industry that is so vital to the economy of his district and our state,” said Haahr, R-Springfield.

“I’m grateful to the citizens of the 138th District for the opportunity to represent their interests in Jefferson City and would like to thank Speaker Haahr for this recognition. It’s a privilege to serve my friends and neighbors in Southwest Missouri,” said Hudson, R-Cape Fair.

Hudson serves as the state representative for the 138th House District, which represents Stone, Christian and Taney counties. He was elected to his first two-year term in the Missouri House of Representatives in November 2018.
