In response to the tragedy, many organizations are raising money, with several turning to GoFundMe.com.
Supporting Tia Coleman, of the family decimated by the event
The most public fundraiser right now, which has been widely featured in news coverage, is benefiting Tia Coleman directly. As of this writing, the campaign has raised over $661,500.
“Eleven family members went on a family vacation when a horrible boating accident killed nine family members, including Tia’s husband Glenn, their three children Reece, Evan and Arya. This page is to Support Tia Coleman” reads the page’s description.

Table Rock Chamber of Commerce
The Table Rock Area Chamber of Commerce is also raising money to help the victims.
Sheila Thomas, president and CEO of the Chamber, said, “Just like you, we are deeply saddened by the tragic boating accident on July 19. People have been reaching out to us from all across the country wanting to help in some way.
So, Table Rock Lake Chamber of Commerce and Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce & CVB have partnered with the Skaggs Foundation to collect donations for the families of the victims and injured. Any contribution you would like to make would be appreciated. 100% of funds collected will go to the families.”
Because the Chamber is partnering with the Skaggs Foundation, individuals wishing to bypass GoFundMe can donate directly to Skaggs at http://www.skaggsfoundation.org/, although donors are asked to put in the message area that the donation is for the victim’s fund, and not regular donations.

The American Red Cross has opened a family assistance center for those affected by the tragedy that has claimed 17 lives when an amphibious sightseeing boat capsized in high waves and winds Thursday evening.
The CFO works through case management and nonprofit providers to support the victims’ needs. The CFO does not provide money directly to individuals, per IRS regulations, but offers assistance such as gas cards and paying other costs directly to vendors.
Depending on donation support and needs, affiliate foundation leaders also can decide to use funds for longer-term needs such as mental-health counseling, emergency management operations or other issues that will arise related to this disaster.
The CFO has a record of disaster philanthropy experience dating to 2003 through events such as the Branson Leap Day tornado in 2012, the Joplin tornado in 2011 and last summer’s extensive river flooding in south-central Missouri.
The CFO is a regional public charitable foundation marking 45 years since its founding in 1973. It serves 58 counties across central and southern Missouri through a network of donors, nonprofit partners and 49 affiliate foundations.
