Elizabeth Horn appeared before Judge Blankenship on Friday, November 22, for arraignment.
During the hearing, Horn, who is represented by Rebecca Abeln, entered a plea of not guilty.
The hearing was documented by electronic media, against a motion presented by Abeln a day prior, according to online court records.
The defense waived the formal reading of the complaint before the court advised Horn on the nature of the charges and range of punishment if found guilty. If found guilty of first degree murder, Horn will face 10 years to life in prison.
Bond was set at $500,000 cash-only. Court records indicate the defense made no specific bond request.
Horn is accused of murdering Walter Scott on Saturday, November 16. Horn allegedly spontaneously admitted to jailers that she “killed someone today,” while she was being booked on unrelated charges.
Elizabeth Horn will next appear in Stone County courts on January 6, 2020.
