Horn Murder Case Transferred To Jasper County
March 5, 2020
Early last month, the attorney for Elizabeth Horn successfully petitioned the courts to change the venue of her murder trial. The case will now be heard in Jasper County before Judge Gayle Crane.
According to online court records, the change of venue motion was granted on February 7.
The next court appearances on the docket are scheduled for June of this year, with three days scheduled for a jury trial, set to begin October 6.
Horn, age 30, is accused of murder in the first degree and armed criminal action. She is charged in the death of Walter Scott, 74.
She allegedly caught a house on fire in the southern portion of Stone County and, while in custody, spontaneously admitted to killing someone.
Horn was arrested on November 16 as a suspect in a house fire. While in custody, she allegedly told deputies she had killed someone earlier in the day, saying Scott’s name.
Deputies eventually located Scott’s body in a home off of Highway OO. He had allegedly been stabbed to death.
Scott reportedly gave Horn a place to stay sometime before the incident. Further motivations for the alleged crime have not been revealed at this time.
