Harbor House replaces October Gala alternative fund raiser this year
October 1, 2020
Cindy Hembree
Due to earlier restrictions concerning the COVID-19 virus, Harbor House had to cancel their annual Spring Fling earlier this year as well as the October Gala in the coming month. They also had to cancel the yearly candlelight vigil that honored those who have survived and others who lost their lives to domestic violence.
Since the pandemic quarantine, Harbor House has found the need much greater, yet the funding has declined. Government funds are provided for basic essentials, but often falls short of the exigencies.
In lieu of the cancelled fundraisers, Harbor House has found a enjoyable, yet safer alternative way to garner support from the general public. A beautiful quilt has been donated by the ladies of Wrights Chapel in Crane. For the next several weeks, the organization will be selling raffle tickets for this quilt at various venues.
On Saturday, October 3, tickets will be sold at King Food Saver located at 18128 Hwy 13, in Branson West.
On Saturday, October 10, Harbor House will set up at Harter House, located at 11798 Hwy 13, in Kimberling City.
The following week, October 17, raffle tickets can be bought at Ma’s Place Café at 13317 Hwy 13 in Kimberling City.
Finally, October 24 and 31, representatives will be at Christian Associates Thrift Store, 18252 Hwy 13 in Branson West selling raffle tickets for the quilt.
The drawing will be held at 3:00 p.m. on October 31 inside the Christian Associates Thrift Store in Branson West. For more information call 417.739.1846
