About 30 people came out Saturday morning, May 5, to clean up the Crane City Park and along the major thoroughfares in town.
“We’re picking up along the walking trails, in the park, BB Highway, D Highway, Roundhouse Road and Dodge Hollow,” said Mayor of Crane Collin Brannan.
Groups including some from the Crane First Baptist Church and the Crane Pirates baseball team gathered to help at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
The city provided vests and some gloves to the participants, then split the assembled people up to tackle the various places identified as hotspots for trash.
Mayor Brannan and the members of the city Board of Aldermen all helped out, including shuttling people to and from different areas and picking up the filled trash bags along the side of the road.
By the time everyone gathered together at the dumpsters near the ball fields, at 11:45 a.m., an impressive amount of trash was gathered in those less than three hours.
“I was expecting a bit more, honestly,” Brannan said, “But this shows people are taking care of the city."
