Gibson Tech Students Compete At State

PictureGibson Technical Center students and their instructors attended the Missouri SkillsUSA Conference in Linn.

Several Gibson Technical Center students recently competed at the Missouri SkillsUSA Conference, held April 4-6 at State Technical College in Linn. SkillsUSA is a nonprofit organization helping to prepare students for careers in trade and skilled service occupations. To qualify, students had to finish first or second in the district competition.


State Results:


Amber Ogden–5th in Nurse Assisting


Makayla Cole–5th in Basic Health Care


Makalya Rich–8th in Culinary Arts


Brandyn Wiles–8th in Carpentry


Kolby Crisp–10th in Computer Repair


Grant Phelan–14th in Computer Repair


Kamiko Tucker–16th in Baking


Gibson Technical Center is part of the Reeds Spring School District but also takes in students from ten surrounding districts. Ogden, Cole, Phelan, Rich and Tucker are from Forsyth. Wiles is from Chadwick and Crisp is from Reeds Spring. All of the students and their instructors said this event was a great experience for them.
