Galena Students Complete Digital Citizenship Course

PictureGalena High School students who completed the digital citizenship course over the summer are pictured above with their Chromebooks. Students include: Leix McClain, Caitlyn Palmer, Destiny Davis, Briley Howard, Tyler Carr, Robbie Higgins, Savanna Baker, Dakota Strohmeyer, Noah Gulick, Roman Rodriguez and Gabby Seitz.
        Students at Galena High School are given the opportunity to take a course during Summer School entitled “Digital Citizenship.” The course it taught by Galena High School teacher Mrs. Kimberly Chapman. Throughout the course students are engaged in discussions about the appropriate use of technology and the impact that social media has on individuals and society as a whole. The class also works to create public service announcements (PSAs) to be distributed throughout the school district on topics related to the use of technology.
        ​The class is open to all students entering grades 9-12 and is only taught during the summer session. All students that complete the course are awarded a Chrome Book by the school district that can be used throughout their academic career. This past summer 12 students completed the course and were given their Chrome Books this past week at Galena High School.
