On Saturday, October 13, the Bears took on the hill course located at College of the Ozarks in the TeXidor Challenge.
The Bears JH programs ran well again. On the Boys side, eighth grader Cameron Elder won the event while teammates Cameron Sartin finished third and Brandon Lingerfelter finished fifth to medal.
The Lady Bears were short handed as the SWCL Junior High Basketball tournament was being played at the same time. Eighth grader Kalie Burchett took home second in the race being beat out by just hundredths of a second for first. The junior high girls will be at full capacity this weekend for the SWCL. “We are excited to see both teams compete this weekend,” boys coach David Sherer said after the race.
The high school teams competed as well. Both the boys and girls teams were competing short handed because of injuries and band competitions. Colby Dinger was the top male runner and Harley McCullough was the top female finisher. Running their first race on varsity was senior Josh Gulick and freshman Logan Busby. Both men showed well on this rugged course.
All four squads hope to compete at full strength this coming weekend at the SWCL Championships in Blue Eye. High school Boys will start at 10am, high school girls at 10:45am, junior high boys at 11:30am and to finish the day the junior high girls will start around noon.
