Galena man thrown from vehicle in Reeds Spring wreck

A Galena man had serious injuries after a wreck near Reeds Spring last week.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, 51 year old Markel L. Scroggins, of Galena, was driving a 2005 Saturn Vue west on Missouri 76 when the crash occurred at around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14.
The report states that Scroggins lost control of the Vue about a mile west of Reeds Spring. The vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and overturned. Scroggins, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle. He landed on the hood of a 1974 Jeep pickup owned by 72 year old Robert M. Holt, of Galena. The report states that the vehicle was stationary at the time of the crash.
Robert Holt did not report any injuries in the collision. The 1974 Jeep had moderate damage but was driven from the scene.
Markel Scroggins had serious injuries. He was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield by a Mercy ambulance.
The 2005 Saturn Vue was totaled in the crash. It was towed by Chris’ Towing of Lampe to their lot.
