Galena High School Academic Team Preview

September 30, 2021
Josie Dickens
The High School Academic Team has a few new freshman faces this year. Almost everyone is returning to the team except Colby Stacy and Gracie Potter who graduated this previous year. The full team roster is still undecided but will be announced when it is finalized.
After winning the SWCL tournament last year and barely falling short in the district finals, the coach, Mr. Carr says, “I feel like they have a good shot at state.”
Jacob Martin, a senior on the team states, “We all have the same work, no one has more than the other, and everyone's pretty encouraging”. Carr also stated he focuses on finding out what each person is good at and expanding in the areas they're most successful in.
With the pandemic going on, Carr said they are going to take all covid precautions, stay as safe as possible, and hope Covid-19 does not play a part in how the season turns out. Throughout the past 3 seasons, Carr has coached, the most valuable thing he's learned is to never give up, with whatever the outcome of the season will be, they will constantly push to be better. The team has high hopes for the future, let's see what they can accomplish.
