Galena Bears take first place at Pleasant Hope two years in a row

The Galena Bears varsity had a big week January 12th our boys kicked off the Pleasant Hope tournament. They first played Exeter at the start of the tournament. Galena Bears took an amazing win over exeter there was no fight. The boys won 83 to 19. Definitely no doubt about it this was an easy game for our boys to take the win. They averaged 71% of 2 point field goals, and 3 point field goals. Zayne Gale took the lead in scoring points with 24, followed by Wyatt Senelson with 20 points. An easy win here for the Galena bears.
January 14th the bears had a tough game to take the win over Marion C. Early. Marion C.Early moved the ball and shot it which took us for a surprise, but they were still no match for our Galena Bears. We averaged 58% 2 point field goals, 26% 3 point field goal. Zayne Gale again with the lead points scored with 20. Shortly behind was Jake Poole with 18 points. We were down but not by much until the 3rd quarter when the Bears took it away and fought hard and just wore down Marion C. Early took the big win to take our boys to the championship 71 to 69.
January 16th was the championship game and our boys were not handed an easy game like they started out with. We played the Pleasant Hope Pirates, they moved the ball and had a good defense. The Galena Bears fought hard; they averaged 61% 2 point field goals, shooting 41 shots and making 25. They averaged 13% of 3 point field goals, shooting 15 and making 3. The boys had 15 offensive rebounds and 26 defensive rebounds. On the defensive side the boys blocked 2 shots and had 7 steals and 14 deflections. On the offensive side we had 24 assists. Zayne Gale with another leading scored points with 27, followed by Wyatt Senelson with 21. Our boys with a final score of 73 to 60 took home first place in the Pleasant Hope tournament, making this the second year victorious over the Pirates. This week, the Bears will compete in the Cabool Classic as the 2 seed, looking to win back to back tournaments.
